Your information, in plain language

What we collect

When you use 2of8b, we may collect:

• Your email address and information needed to manage your account.
• Basic profile information such as your birth year, gender, city and country.
• The answers you give while building your profile.
• Answer status and information about when answers were recorded.
• Technical information needed to keep you signed in and operate the service.
• Limited first-party information about how people reach 2of8b, used in aggregate.

If you choose Google sign-in, Google and Supabase process the information required to authenticate your account.

Password credentials are handled through Supabase Auth rather than stored in your normal 2of8b profile data.

Why we use it

We use your information to:

• Create and display your profile.
• Decide which questions are useful to ask you next.
• Understand compatibility between people.
• Identify people and groups who may be a good fit for future 2of8b Rooms and events.
• Curate attendees and, where appropriate, introductions between people.
• Operate, secure and support your account.
• Understand how people discover 2of8b and improve acquisition.
• Understand where the 2of8b community is based and plan future local products or Rooms.
• Allow you to review, change, export and delete your information.

We do not sell your personal information or share it with advertisers.

Sensitive answers

Some optional questions may reveal sensitive information, including religious or philosophical beliefs, romantic or sexual interests, or sexual orientation.

2of8b only processes the sensitive answers covered by its consent system after you give explicit consent.

You do not have to answer these questions to use the rest of 2of8b.

You can withdraw that consent from your account page. When you withdraw it, the sensitive answers covered by that consent are removed.

Your profile

Your profile is created from answers you explicitly provide.

2of8b may use those answers to decide which questions to ask next and to help identify people or groups who may be relevant to particular Rooms.

Your profile is not a medical, psychological or clinical assessment.

We do not sell your profile or compatibility information to advertisers.

Participant media releases

If you agree to appear in recorded or promotional 2of8b content, we collect the name, email address, age declaration, agreement and typed signature you submit through the Participant Media Release.

We keep the signed release, its wording and signing time so we can manage and demonstrate the permission associated with that content. Participant releases are operational records and are not used in your profile or compatibility decisions.

Services we use

We use specialist providers to operate 2of8b.

Supabase provides authentication and database services.

Vercel provides website hosting and delivery.

Google processes authentication information if you choose Google sign-in.

Cookies and browser storage

2of8b uses technology necessary to operate the service, including authentication cookies that keep you signed in.

The service may also use temporary browser storage where necessary for the question experience.

We do not currently use advertising cookies or advertising tracking pixels.

How long we keep information

We generally keep your account information and profile answers while your account exists.

When you permanently delete your account, the personal information covered by the account-deletion process is removed from the active 2of8b application data.

Some service providers may retain limited information temporarily in backups or where required for security, legal or operational reasons.

Your choices

From your account page you can:

• Download your information as JSON or CSV.
• Review and change your answers.
• Withdraw consent for covered sensitive answers.
• Change your account information.
• Permanently delete your account.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights to:

• Access your personal information.
• Correct inaccurate information.
• Request deletion.
• Restrict or object to certain processing.
• Receive certain information in a portable format.
